This a Vixen Style Finder Dovetail Bracket for hot shoes on DSLR or older SLR cameras. Our solar finder can be mounted directly on it or you can directly mount small guide scopes or finders. Made from all-aluminum construction. Also has a 1/4-20 threaded hole on the bottom for mounting on tripods, ball heads, or any other standard camera mounting. Is compatible with GSO, TPO, Vixen, X-class, Zhumell, etc.
The fourth-generation hot-shoe adapter comes with a D shaped central pillar to prevent loosening or movement. We have also added a second thumbscrew. This allows better lockdown, but also gives you the choice to use a right or left thumbscrew if either is in the way.
This adapter is for Vixen style FINDER dovetails, not for telescope mounts.
Fitting tips: For a new camera hotshoe, use both thumbs to push DSLR adapter into the hotshoe, then tighten down the ring. If there is any side to side movement at the interface between the adapter and your hotshoe, a simple toothpick into the side of the hotshoe will eliminate this movement.
This hot shoe adapter has another great function. It has a 1/4-20 mounting hole in the center, so you can turn your camera tripod or anything with a 1/4-20 screw into a finderscope mount.
Not compatible with Sony proprietary hotshoes, like on the Sony A700.

You nailed it! - Tuesday, December 14, 2021I am just getting into astrophotography and was struggling with how to mount my guide scope and tracking camera to my DSLR. I tried mounting it in other ways but it always offset the center of gravity to my setup on my Ioptron skyguider pro mount. I stumbled across a review of this item on YouTube and was skeptical at first. But I have to say, you nailed it. My zwo 30f4 mini scope and Camera fits perfectly in this. And your hot shoe mount is Rock Solid. Furthermore it is positioned directly on the center of gravity of my camera now. Everything is in perfect balance on my mount. Absolutely perfect! Great work, I will be paying close attention to your other products going forward.

Perfect - Friday, May 14, 2021If your looking for this kind of adapter look no further. Hard to find anyway ! Extremely well made and thoughtful design. Ive read answers on astro form posts from a couple users looking to do what this type of adapter does that "you don't want to do that because a finder or guide scope is to heavy for hot shoe plate"... omg... don't they know how heavy pro photo flash bulbs and housings can get 😳? That being said there is typically some small amount of movement in hot shoe plates. this can be addressed like the designer says by toothpicks wedged in but I found this to not quite do the trick. I used the tooth pick to apply a couple of drops of thick quick dry epoxy to the corners of the hot shoe ... yes you get a couple of mm size drops on your dslr around the corners of the plate... if you just cant handle this prospect Im sure you can figure out a wedge method.
