- Description
Brass Router Template Guide Bushings are primarily used to follow templates with your handheld or table-mounted router. They fit into the base of your router or in an insert ring on the router table. Use them when making shaped parts that all need to be the same size.
When using the guide bushings, you create a template smaller than the finished part size to compensate for the offset between the router bit and the outside edge of the bushing. To calculate the offset, subtract the bit diameter from the guide-bushing diameter and divide by two.
The set comes in a durable molded case and contains two lock nuts and eight guides with 5/16", 3/8", 7/16", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 51/64", and 1" outside diameters. All guides protrude 0.240" to work with any template material of 1/4" thickness and larger. They fit all routers with Porter-Cable style sub-bases or router tables with 1-3/8" insert rings with a counter bored hole for a template guide bushing and work the same as a bearing on a router bit.
You will find many ways to use them in your workshop. Read our safety guide for template routing in the operating instructions (page 4) for the ChipsFly router table.
