If you have ever used a cabinet scraper or a card scraper, you know that they lose their edge over time, just like any other cutting tool.

Burnishers create a burr on the edges of flat, curved, or beveled card scrapers. With the 3/8” diameter round steel rod of this burnisher, you can use as much pressure as needed to “rollover” your scraper’s edge for a perfect burr.

If you have never used a burnisher, it is relatively simple to use. After removing any previous burr, you roll the edges of your scraper to create a burr by tilting the burnisher slightly to one side of the scraper, then run the burnisher along the edge repeatedly until you make a slight burr.

Once your scrapers have the desired burr on each edge, you’ll be able to use them to scrape a wood surface to produce fine, light shavings that make the wood surface very smooth without the fine scratches typically created by sanding. Wood artisans have used card scrapers for centuries.

This burnisher is made from hardened steel and measures approximately 11-1/2 inches in total length, and has a hardwood handle with a steel ferrule.
